Exhibition & panel talk: Feminist spatial practices for the 99%

TU Berlin, Forum A-building, Straße des 17. Juni 152, 10623 Berlin
Zuzana Tabačková z.tabackova@tu-berlin.de

The exhibition brings together spatial practices from Czechia, Slovakia, and Berlin that work beyond conventional understandings of architecture, urbanism, and design. It presents organisations, collectives, and movements that bring often-overlooked perspectives into the making of space. Seen through the lens of feminist spatial practice, the exhibition asks how care, inclusion, and social justice can shape architecture and planning.

The presented practices address systemic inequalities and work with those whose voices are often unheard — including Roma communities, long-term unemployed women, families facing homelessness, as well as bees, bats, and abandoned buildings.

These practices draw on architecture, urbanism, art, sociology, social work, and law, showing that spatial practice can take many forms: from design and research to advocacy, education, and community organising.

The exhibition is organised by the collective Občina. The curators and authors of the research on Slovak and Czech practices are Lýdia Grešáková and Zuzana Tabačková from Spolka, a collective of architects and sociologists. The Berlin cases were researched and developed by students of the TU Berlin MA project Feminist Spatial Practices for the 99%, led by Zuzana Tabačková.

I would be very happy to see many of you there.

All the best,
Zuzana
