City, society, urban practice – taz-Talk
When it comes to the city, housing and coexistence, traditional planning processes are increasingly reaching their limits. The crises are too diverse for hierarchical control; more shared responsibility is needed. This is precisely where urban practice comes in. At the same time, it is currently under threat from cutbacks. With civil society as a central player, urban practice can make cities more resilient, sustainable, solidary and liveable – if it is taken seriously as a professional discipline and promoted accordingly. This is currently on the brink again.
We ask ourselves how we can continue to have a say in the city from below. Cihan Arin (architect, responsible for the participation of non-citizens at the IBA’84/87), Markus Bader (member of the group raumlabor in Berlin), Christian Junge (Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing), Sabine Kroner (Berlin Mondiale gUg, board member of Urbane Praxis e.V.) and Matthias Lilienthal (theatre maker and future director of the Volksbühne am Rosa- Luxemburg-Platz) will discuss.
Moderation: Sophie Jung, taz cultural editor
Tuesday, 25 March, 7 pm, taz Kantine & stream.
