LIVErary

The LIVErary is a moving and living archive of initiatives of collective urban design and practice. Quite different from a quiet and institutionalised public library, LIVErary is a constantly evolving, open space for the active exchange of knowledge about liveable cities.

The archive includes all conceivable formats, from publications to self-published zines/magazines/books/brochures/manuals/project documentation/papers/etc. (so-called ‘grey literature’).

Karneval der Kulturen – Zukunfts(t)raum

The Karneval der Kulturen street festival is opening up its platform to think together with you about the future of our city and society. The Zukunfts(T)raum is a new area at the street festival – a place for critical dialogue, visions and concrete perspectives for action.

PROGRAMM 07.06.2026

Argumentationsworkshop mit Methu 12-15:00

This workshop takes the form of argumentation and attitude training. As city makers, you can take part in further training with an expert and learn about strategies for action against the right.

Methu Thavarasa (no pronouns) is a German-socialised Eelam Tamil. Since 2017, Methu has dedicated herself to political education and has implemented a variety of formats in this area, including argumentation trainings, further education and lectures on power-critical communication against the right, topics of anti-discrimination, power criticism and intersectionality. In the area of process-oriented organisational and team development, Methu is increasingly focusing on discrimination-sensitive and structural diversity development. Methu also offers empowerment training for people who have experienced racism and works as a sensitivity reader and facilitator.

Poetic Tandem Open Translating Workshop 15-17:00

Poetic Tandem aims to overcome language barriers by facilitating live poetry translations between individuals with different mother tongues who connect in Berlin. Respecting the integrity of original languages, our initiative fosters a communal and personal method of translation. At the LIVErary, we will interact with a dispersed and multicultural library representing Berlin’s multilingualism. We invite poets, writers, and everyone to participate in this ‘moving library’ by reading selections in their own languages. Participants will then form small groups (2-3 people) to translate and record these translations on sticky notes, attaching them to the relevant pages of the books. This process intends to make the books accessible to a wider audience across languages. For instance, someone fluent in Turkish could translate a book title for a Portuguese speaker, who would then write the Portuguese translation on a folded sticky note to be added to the book, gradually enriching the library’s linguistic diversity while preserving the original text
