Welcome to the future. A future where culture grows through solidarity, where spaces and communities in urgency are connected, and where access to space is reclaimed and reimagined by those who are vocal, critical, and standing with communities under siege and those who have been forcefully displaced.

We are not there yet.

Gentrification, budget cuts, right-wing hostility and silencing tactics are threatening those who dare to be critical. Institutions are retreating, funders are withdrawing, and the weight of holding space is left on the shoulders of queer communities, diasporic and migrant initiatives, anti-racist collectives, critical artists from the diaspora, and the displaced. These are always the first to lose access.

So the question is: how do we reclaim space for cultural resistance? How do we unearth the toxins in Berlin’s soil that block us from reclaiming space collectively and practically? What do we want to seed together?

This gathering is a call to act. Together we will learn from international community-led approaches. We will look at what blocks us from reclaiming access. We will plant seeds of practice and alliance for cultural resistance. And we will map what Berlin needs now to grow a living web of mutual aid and solidarity.
