Organizing für Alle
Dear Volunteers,
In March, at our event “Mobilization for All,” we developed a shared understanding of the situation and identified strategies for the election campaign. Now we’re taking the next step together: from mobilization to organizing.
Because we believe that progressive politics can only succeed if it returns to neighborhoods, door-to-door canvassing, and personal conversations. That’s why we want to work together to figure out how we can build a cross-party organizing and door-to-door outreach strategy in Berlin that reaches people across political divides.
After the summer break, three state elections are scheduled: Saxony-Anhalt on September 6, and Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on September 20. The forecasts are sobering, and we expect these elections to trigger a political earthquake: widespread public concern, demonstrations, and a wave of people asking, “What can I do now?”
We’re familiar with this question. After political shocks—such as the Correctiv investigations into the secret Potsdam meeting on “remigration”—hundreds of thousands of people want to “do something.” But this drive to act fizzles out when there are no structures in place to channel it.
That is exactly what we want to prepare for. Together, we want to find answers: How can we transform the next wave of political motivation in September into organized structures capable of taking action over the long term?
Experience from successful campaigns around the world shows that when people talk to one another, take responsibility, and build long-term relationships, progressive forces can grow far beyond their traditional circles.
No prior experience is required to participate. We bring together people from various social movements, initiatives, neighborhood groups, labor unions, and political parties. We are united not by a common organization, but by the conviction that progressive majorities are both possible and necessary.
What It’s All About
We invite you to participate in workshops and discussions on four questions:
- Beyond the Bubble: How can we reach beyond our own bubble and, through door-to-door conversations, connect with people who don’t attend protests, aren’t members of any political party, and are rarely politically active, but who have specific concerns in their neighborhood?
- Growth Without Paralysis: How Can Groups Grow Rapidly While Remaining Active and Capable of Taking Action?
- Difficult Conversations and People: How Do We Deal with Right-Wing and Divisive Comments?
- Technical Infrastructure: What tailored digital tools do we need to support our organizing processes?
The goal of the meeting is to take the first steps toward developing a joint approach to organizing and door-to-door canvassing for the Berlin House of Representatives election, and to connect people who want to get involved in the AGH election campaign and, above all, beyond it.
