Ökosysteme der Fürsorge: Organismendemokratie
Dear friends of art and culture, dear neighbours,
We would like to cordially invite you to the opening of the third and final exhibition in our series Ecosystems of Care in the gatehouse at the entrance to Kulturinsel.
For the third exhibition, the artist collective Club Real collaborated with local residents to produce an audio walk for Ernst Thälmann Park, in which various creatures from the park have their say. For the first time, the diverse history of the place is told from the perspective of the plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms that live there.
At the same time, Galerie Parterre is celebrating the release of the catalogue for the current exhibition Routine Ravers by artist duo Barbora Zentková and Julia Gryboś. Their work focuses on the use of materials as an expression of their origin and history, which are often determined by social or economic contexts. The artists use traditional craft techniques such as weaving and knotting to develop complex installations that respond to the space and simultaneously restructure it.
Opening and catalogue release: 30 July 2025, 7 p.m. With live performances by maryland and Pastor Leumund.
The opening begins with a group walk with Club Real to the individual stations of the audio walk, where the stories of the creatures are narrated.
The musical part of the evening will be kicked off by artist and musician maryland (Prague/Berlin). Her atmospheric, melancholic songs create a special atmosphere and are perfect for a balmy summer evening on Kulturinsel. maryland has just released her first EP, entitled steps.
We are also looking forward to the performance by Pastor Leumund. The ‘real Dadaist itinerant preacher’, as he describes himself, was recommended to us by Club Real. Accompanied by the psychedelic hip hop and electro tracks of Friedrich Greiling aka Mittekill, Pastor Leumund composes discourse disco anthems that inspire both reflection and dancing.

31 July – 7 September 2025
Opening: 30 July 2025, 7 p.m.
The artist collective Club Real is working with local residents to produce an audio walk for Ernst Thälmann Park, in which various creatures from the park have their say. For the first time, the diverse history of the place is told from the perspective of the plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms that live there. What do the billions of bacteria that have been working continuously since 2004 in the groundwater purification plant to make the groundwater contaminated by the gasworks drinkable again have to say? And how are the approximately 4,000 trees that were planted in the 1980s for each individual resident doing today? In the 1,332 apartments, houseplants improve people’s well-being, and at night, raccoons and foxes visit the rubbish bins of the high-rise buildings. Together with the residents, the artist collective explores the perspectives and experiences of these creatures and makes them visible and audible.
Finissage | 7 September 2025, 3–9 p.m., joint walk at 6 p.m.
The exhibition’s closing event will take place together with the summer festival on Kulturinsel. At 6 p.m., Club Real invites you to join them on a walk through Ernst-Thälmann-Park to visit the various stops on the audio walk and engage in conversation.
