Open Day – Making urban diversity visible!
We are very pleased to announce the date for two special days today, where everything revolves around diverse, collective and participatory urban design.
Urban Practice Day // Friday, 26 September
‘Opportunities for collective urban design’
An interactive day for exchange, knowledge transfer and cooperation opportunities for all actors from civil society, administration, politics, the property industry and the funding landscape who are oriented towards the common good. With themed tables, project examples from Berlin and beyond and a strong focus on cross-departmental and intersectional cooperation.
Open Day – Making Urban Practice Visible // Saturday, 27 September
On Saturday, 27 September 2025, initiatives, collectives and self-organised spaces throughout Berlin will open their doors. The Open Day – Making Urban Diversity Visible invites people to shape the city together, make perspectives visible and create space for solidarity, resistance and creative practices.
These spaces are under pressure: they are being destroyed by austerity measures, and perspectives are being suppressed. Urban practice often arises from resistance – against exclusion, displacement and urban policies that render spaces invisible. But it is precisely in these special places in the city – open, creative, communal – that shared themes, desires and utopias give rise to new ideas, encounters and a sense of togetherness that brings the city to life.
The action day is part of a two-day event that begins on Friday, 26 September, with a symposium and continues on Saturday with public activities in the city. Why? We want to have a say in ensuring that spaces remain and urban diversity has a future. A city-wide intervention designed to raise awareness of our approaches and make our voices heard.
Why you should make a note of the date. These two days will bring together current developments, strategies and perspectives on urban practice – and show how cities can be organised differently, more participatively and in solidarity. Together with you, Urban Practice can break up current structures.
The open call for participation in the open day is linked here.
