Presence workshop on web archiving, 29 + 30 April 2025, Central and State Library Berlin
General information
The Internet is a swirling web, colourful and loud, never still – a space filled with our language, our lives, our time and therefore perhaps the most important source about us in the future. What remains? Not much at the moment!
The life expectancy of websites is significantly shorter than that of books on library shelves. That’s why Mona Ulrich from the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and Claus-Michael Schlesinger from the Digital Humanities Competence Centre at Humboldt University Berlin will show you how to save websites from disappearing in this two-day workshop.
On day one, you will learn the basics of the World Wide Web, web archiving and the tools of the Webrecorder project. On day two, you can test your new knowledge and archive websites that you want to preserve.
