The LIVErary is a moving and living archive of initiatives of collective urban design and practice.

Quite different from a quiet and institutionalised public library, LIVErary is a constantly evolving, open space for the active exchange of knowledge about liveable cities. .

This digital mediation and knowledge repository was transformed into an analogue form by Torhaus e.V. To this end, Torhaus eV developed an event and space concept that was implemented as a mobile library – ‘LIVErary – a dynamic knowledge library on collective urban design’. LIVErary makes it possible to collect, bundle and share extensive knowledge from the network. This includes self-published zines/magazines/books/brochures/manuals/project documentation/papers/etc. (so-called ‘grey literature’) on the topics of collective urban design, self-made cities, civil society, public welfare-oriented and cultural urban development, as well as scientific publications, manuals, toolboxes and much more. In the spirit of collective urbanism, we see this as collective know-how that we want to develop together and share peer-to-peer. The library consists of several modules that can be individually assembled and disassembled at different locations. The LIVErary is currently accessible at the office of the Network Centre for Urban Practice and can be flexibly continued and exhibited as a travelling library in the future.
