and let no one be forgotten!
Parking spaces are available in the surrounding streets
Participants will listen to a pre-recorded audio track (in English or German) for the entire duration of the 75-minute walk. The audio includes spoken-word recordings (a fictional narrative, artistic contributions, interviews, etc) and music. Participants should expect to hear their surroundings: street sounds, train sounds, people traffic, etc. The project provides no other visual stimuli.
Participants are free to leave at any point, should they wish to, without needing to contact the project team.
Content Note: The event primarily deals with the topic of Germany's occupation by the Soviet Union. The audiowalk also discusses this history in connection with the current war in Ukraine. These topics are dealt with sensitively and respectfully. However, some participants may find the contents triggering.
and let no one be forgotten! is an immersive audiowalk by Berlin-based artists Hannah Alongi, Jeremy Knowles, and Katya Romanova, focusing on the so-called “Russian Houses” in Berlin-Karlshorst. The audiowalk explores the history of the houses, which, despite remaining empty and largely untouched since 1994, remain the property of the Russian Federation. Yet, this story is not only about the houses themselves but also about the different people who have come into contact with them, directly or indirectly, over the years. It is a story about what (and who) gets left behind after empires fall.
Duration: approx. 75 minutes
Participants are invited to join us for a discussion/Q&A after the walk.
Please bring headphones and a mobile phone with internet access!
