Access Notes: From the Lustgarten, the Kolonnadenhof is only about 300 m away. If you arrive late, please meet us directly at the Kolonnadenhof.

The tour will be in English and use easy language.

There is a public toilet located at Am Lustgarten 1, 10178 Berlin, near the Kolonnadenhof, where we will do the tour. It is barrier-free, with clear signage and accessible spaces, and it is gender-discrimination-free (gender-neutral toilets). Please note that this is not a special toilet for people with children (no baby changing facilities, limited space, not a quiet area).

Volume / Noise: Some background noise from traffic or passers-by may occur. The tour includes an audio piece, and nearby green areas allow participants to step away and relax if needed.
Number of people / public space: Around 10–15 participants are expected. Being in public spaces, there may also be passers-by.

The tour is relaxed. The audio includes immersive Amazon rainforest soundscapes.



The route is wheelchair-accessible. Please bring headphones and smartphone for the audio experience. Dogs and other non-human friends are also welcome!

Why do the mythical Amazon warrior women and the world’s largest rainforest have the same name?

In this one-and-a-half-hour experimental walk, we will explore the Kolonnadenhof on Museum Island through somatic exercises and an immersive audio experience. Together, we will revisit the history of this space, reflecting on it from a ecofeminist perspective. Along the way, we will encounter statues of the Amazon warrior women and their adversary, the Greek male hero Hercules, uncovering the unexpected historical connections and colonial implications embedded in these sculptures.

Amazonen in Berlin

Amazonen in Berlin, founded by Chiara Faggionato and Lina Mazenett. The collective develops artistic, community-oriented and educational projects with an ecofeminist approach. They revisit mythologies, particularly the figure of the Amazon warrior women, by recontextualising them from ecofeminist and decolonial perspectives. Their practice unfolds through different participatory artistic formats in public spaces and museum contexts.
