Workshop description: In this workshop, we will first review key concepts related to racism, with a particular focus on the concept of anti-Muslim racism. Building on this, we will continue the discussions and questions from the last session. The focus will be on different manifestations of anti-Muslim racism and their impact on gender and sexuality. We will then look at anti-Muslim urbanism and homonationalism and discuss how these dynamics shape and influence urban space. A particular aim of the workshop is to promote a deeper understanding of the structural and everyday expressions of anti-Muslim racism and to encourage critical self-reflection on one’s own social positioning.

Rahmatullah is a freelance political educator with a focus on racism and anti-racism, especially anti-Muslim racism. As a student of the global ‘war on terror’, his work explores the cultural politics of anti-Muslim racism in geopolitics, European migration policy and global development work. A particular focus is on its manifestations along the axes of gender and sexuality.
