What: For 10 years, the ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanism has been located in the former freight station in the Moabiter Stadtgarten – 10 years in which urban practice has been researched, tested and practiced here and beyond the region. on 17th of november between 1 and 4 pm we want to experience urban practices in a very haptic way: in an action trail around the biotope ZK/U. In workshops, unusual meeting formats and (knowledge) exchange rounds, both existing formats and satellites will be presented and the future program of the ZK/U will be jointly designed.

Seeing a transformation ‘in front of your eyes’ / 10 years of ZK/U and 10 years of Urban Practice in the Stadtgarten Moabit / Diverse ZK/U satellite projects in the park and a wide range of relationships with local actors.

What: In 2019, the foundation stone will be laid for the expansion of our building. Two years later, we turned our roof upside down, rebuilt it as a ship, and set out on a journey to documenta fifteen. These days we finally get a new roof over our heads. In the future, we will live and work here in an even more experimental, artistic and accessible way. We would like to invite you to our topping-out ceremony, which will take place at 4 p.m. on the forecourt of the ZK/U site. Thank you to workers:inside and construction companies Speech (ZK/U, politicians, urban development) + topping-out wreath Together food and drink fire bowl.

The ZK/U aims to develop projects, produce knowledge together and share the values created through exchange. It does not offer a fixed set of ideas and principles for its residents. Rather, individual projects and needs shape what might be called a continuous formation. Rather than letting the “end product” limit the possible courses of action, ZK/U focuses on the processes that emerge from and feed into the respective contexts of the residents’ practice, be it locally defined situations or international discourses

When: 3pm – 5pm

Where: ZK/U, Siemensstr. 27 (Haupteingang)

What: audiowalk by fem_arc

During a walk guided by binaural sound recordings, listeners encounter a variety of personal stories that cross geographical and linguistic boundaries. The F_WALKS are an ongoing process of documenting the diversity of subjective spatial experiences and different ways of accessing space – and communicating them in a body-centered way. During the quiet walk through the streets of their city, participants experience emancipatory practices and spaces along with different narrative characters that guide them through the city. Narrated spaces and the physical environment merge. What can we learn from each other, regardless of the distance that separates us? Recorded rooms resonate in real space. What would that be like if we used the same practices right here?
Audiowalks gather perspectives that are often invisible, inaudible, and ignored in urban planning. Topics covered include access to, or exclusion from, spaces, memory culture in public spaces, and urban economies.
To participate you need a smartphone and headphones. Since the Walk will be outside, please dress appropriately for the weather.
