Directed by Thomas Heise, the film follows five far-right youths in Halle-Neustadt in the early 1990s, capturing the uncertainty, disorientation, and social fractures of the post-reunification era. Without commentary or judgment, the film lets its protagonists speak for themselves, becoming a powerful historical document of lost prospects, family conflicts, and the rise of right-wing violence in eastern Germany.
Before the screening, we meet Mangel Records at Frachtkante, on the grounds of the former Tegel Airport, a space straddling cultural hub and new beginnings. We ask the DIY punk label what kind of spaces music, art, and culture can create: against isolation, against right-wing co-optation, and against the feeling of having no place. What does it mean today to stand up against something? And what are art, music, and collective structures trying to overcome?
The focus is on punk as a form of protest born from the desire for independence and as a way to counter social conditions with something of one’s own.
And what exactly can “Jetzt geht’s los” mean today?
Come by and bring your friends. There will be snacks and drinks in the old cafeteria at Tegel Airport, supported by @boller.laden and @frachtkante
