Every last Saturday of the month, Interkular’s mobile neighbourhood outreach team invites residents to come together to cook and eat

- Boddinstraße underground station (U8), lift available, then 750 m on foot (Mahlower Straße then left into Lichtenrader Straße)
- Fontanestr./Flughafenstr. bus stop (M43), then 500 m on foot
(Fontanestraße-> continue on Schillerpromenade ->right into Herrfurthstraße)
- There are parking spaces in the neighbouring streets, but these are often busy on Saturdays, which means you may have to search for a while to find a space.
- We are easily accessible by bicycle :)

The languages depend on the participants. The interkular team speaks German and English, and communicates with their hands, hearts and feet. We do not have any DGS interpreters on site.

There is a gender-neutral toilet, which is accessible via a small ramp. Baby changing facilities can be found in the rooms.

When cooking, we are in a kitchen with about 6-8 people. Music is played. It can get a little busy. We sit at beer tables in the public space on the footpath to eat. Despite there being little traffic, there can sometimes be loud noises from the surrounding area, as we are located at the intersection of a cycle path and a (little) busy road. On Saturdays, many people are on their way to Tempelhofer Feld. In general, it is a pleasant experience if you do not find being in a public space stressful. The number of participants depends heavily on the weather and temperatures. In any case, there will be passers-by and lots of conversation among the participants. Our team ensures a non-discriminatory and non-violent atmosphere and is happy to help with difficult situations, questions and problems.
Content note: We are in an open meeting space, and this can sometimes lead to challenging moments. Our team ensures a non-discriminatory and non-violent atmosphere and can be approached in case of difficult situations, questions or problems.

Every last Saturday of the month, Interkular’s mobile neighbourhood outreach team invites residents to come together to cook and eat in the Schillerkiez neighbourhood.

If you would like to cook together from 2.30 p.m., please think of a recipe idea for a starter, main course or dessert and send us an email (preferably by 22 September) to: kiezbegegnung@interkular.de. From 5 p.m., everyone is welcome to join us for a cosy and open meal in front of our premises.

Mobile Stadtteilarbeit – Team Kiezbegegnung /interkular

As the neighbourhood centre Kiezbegegnung run by the social enterprise interkular, we work together with neighbours and volunteers to develop social concepts for strengthening a society based on solidarity. And we put these concepts into practice. We create spaces to break down discrimination, prejudice and anonymity, bringing people together in exchange and action.
