The “Lobby” is the permanent representation of Urban Praxis at Alex – opposite the Red City Hall and below the Stadtwerkstatt Mitte.

From October, this place will develop into an Urban Praxis hub. Here, urban practitioners meet with accomplices, other urban political movements, neighbours and administration employees from all departments.

This is where practictioners exchange information, the test cell for a future Office for Urban Cross-cutting Tasks is located, knowledge flows between administration and praxis, strategies are spun, neighbours stumble into the anteroom, projects evaluate their impact, city makers sketch urban futures, curious people drink coffee, authors read about urban inclusion, the Initiative Urbane Praxis writes its manifesto …

Instead of waiting to see what the coalition negotiations mean for the future of urban praxis, we get started on that future now! In a collective effort, we create a rich bouquet of actions between October and December 2021 to make the relevance of Urban Praxis tangible, arguable and designable. We create a low-threshold, interdepartmental space that our city needs: to appropriate, to negotiate, to argue, to make plans, to exchange, to ask questions and find answers.

The result will be a prismatic image of a tried and tested future: a long-term structure of Urban Praxis that insists on the right of everyone to everyday artistic space-production with the political support of local experts.
