Litfass Goes Urban Art is a Berlin art project by artist Michael Wismar that has been running since 2019. By regularly displaying art on listed advertising pillars in Berlin, the project campaigns for the release of all 24 listed advertising pillars from commercial advertising leases.
advertising leases. Instead, it demands that they be handed over to an alliance of Berlin artists and local cultural institutions, which will curate the democratic and artistic display of the columns.
In 2022, Michael Wismar had a small advertising pillar erected on the Gesundbrunnen station forecourt with the support of artist Marina Naprushkina. He had previously been able to save it from being dismantled and disposed of during a park renovation in Kreuzberg. Since then, the column has been used by different artists every month.
