„Building as common practice“
“Building as common practice” The construction studio UM:BAU was founded in 2019 by Jan Dubský and Jann Spille in Luckenwalde, Brandenburg. Our field of work includes the planning and realisation of conversions and experimental small-scale architecture. We pursue a collaborative approach to building and explore materialities, urban structures and rural spaces. For us, architecture is a craft-based, artistic and social practice.
We are interested in non-places, ruins and leftover spaces in cities and the countryside. Together with the users, the public and politicians, we want to create new situations in these places that build on what is already there, initiate low-threshold getting together and, at best, leave a lasting positive change. Collective building is one of the vehicles that help us achieve this.
We like to leave our base in Luckenwalde in order to dedicate ourselves to new projects and cooperations.
