The LIVErary is a moving and living archive of initiatives of collective urban design and practice.

Quite different from a quiet and institutionalised public library, LIVErary is a constantly evolving, open space for the active exchange of knowledge about liveable cities. Below you will find the option to contribute digital content.

Torhaus e.V. has transformed this digital platform for knowledge exchange and storage into a physical space. To this end, Torhaus e.V. developed an event and spatial concept that was realized as a mobile library—“LIVErary—a dynamic knowledge library on collective urban design.” LIVErary makes it possible to collect, consolidate, and share extensive knowledge from the network. Part of this consists of self-published zines, magazines, books, brochures, manuals, project documentations, papers, etc. (so-called “gray literature”) on the topics of collective urban design, the self-made city, civil society-oriented, public-good-oriented, and cultural urban development, as well as academic publications, manuals, toolkits, and much more. In the spirit of collective city-making, we view these as a collective body of knowledge that we want to develop together and share peer-to-peer. The library consists of several modules that can be individually set up and taken down at different locations. The LIVErary is currently accessible at the office of the Urban Practice Network and can be flexibly continued and exhibited in the future as a traveling library.
