The PLATZ*DA! project in Rummelsburg, which is supported by the Youth Democracy Fund, starts in May 2023. The project offers young people the opportunity to get creative in various construction containers and actively shape their leisure spaces.
Democracy can be built! PLATZ*DA! is conquering a 7000 square meter open space in Lichtenberg. Together with teenagers and young adults, artists and architects set up a lively participatory construction site where ideas and impulses can take concrete form. Spaces and meeting points are created on the site that can be used for play. This encourages people to break out of the usual user position, break consumer habits and get involved in the community from a young perspective. PLATZ*DA! provides many containers to expand and design, a workshop, a fire bowl and plenty of space for ideas in the middle of Lichtenberg. Summer nights can be spent on the sun deck with music, dancing and BBQ. On the open-air site, you can take your own place in urban society – PLATZ*DA offers young people the opportunity to create the “Campus Kippe”.
The aim of the project and the young “discipline” of urban practice in general is to promote co-decision-making by citizens and young people in particular in the various dimensions of urban planning and land use.
The project ended September 2023.
