Call by the Berlin Project Fund ‘Urban Praxis’
In Berlin, old fences have been climbed, new construction sites have been opened and work has continued on important pioneering facilities in recent months: in the centre and at the periphery. Post-disciplinary urban laboratories are growing. Together with Berliners, they serve to test urban visions. In cooperation with numerous network partners, our initiative implements exemplary campus projects and develops the basis for the Urban Praxis Action Plan: urbanepraxis.berlin/aktionsplan-urbane-praxis.
The circle is expanding and we look forward to new fellow campaigners who multiply the artistic perspectives with their own projects!
From 19 March onwards, the new funding instrument Berliner Projektfonds Urbane Praxis (Berlin Project Fund Urban Praxis), which is managed by the Stiftung Kulturelle Weiterbildung und Kulturberatung, will be open for applications: A total of 1.2 million euros is available to all art and culture professionals based in Berlin. Funding is provided for projects, processes and workshops that rethink urban space and test ideas and concepts for the future of urban coexistence through artistic and curatorial practices.
Through praxis, open spaces are to be created and urban spaces are to be used in a new/different way. The interfaces between art, society, architecture and the built environment to the areas of urban development, social affairs, education, politics, the environment and the economy are to be strengthened and new, innovative partnerships and networks in urban society are to be promoted. Orientation is provided by the locations of the Initiative Urbane Praxis with the initial campuses and urban labs, two workshop conferences and the diverse cooperation structures open to all sectors.
There is the possibility to connect your own ideas, initiatives and networks to the campuses of the Initial Project Urbane Praxis, which include: S27 – Kunst und Bildung, Berlin Mondiale/Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln, Floating University/Floating e.V., Haus der Statistik/ ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG, station urbaner kulturen/nGbK, Baupalast am Dragoner/constructLab (and more), ZK/U. Project period: Mid-May until 31 December 2021
Funding: 10.000 € – 60.000 € (120.000 € in exceptional cases)
Eligible: artistic projects/process/conceptual phases
Announced eligibility criteria:
• Artistic design
• Use of the urban space
• Diversity sensitivity
• Involvement of local actors
• Interdisziplinary connections
Applications will be evaluated by a jury. Jurors are: Anuscheh Amir Khalili, Christopher Dell, Danilo Vetter, Seraphina Lenz, Van Bo Le-Mentzel, Gülsah Stapel (+ NN).
