ABC+D – A Basin Conversation + Dinner

Can A Basin Own Itself? with Charlie Fisher (Dark Matter Labs)

Time: Thursday September 7 at 6pm

Bring: Curiosity + Cash for drinks. Food will be provided. Food will be provided.

The way we currently fund, design, and develop new homes is deeply unsustainable: unaffordable, waste intensive, and short-lived in quality. We can no longer think of housing as a separate issue; it sits at the heart of the multiple crises we are currently facing – and requires a systems’ solution to address them. „FreeHouse“ is an explorative project by Dark Matter Labs imagining housing as a service, residents as stewards and asking questions of ownership. Can a home own itself?

During our dinner conversation we will attempt to spin this idea further and apply it to the case of Floating Berlin. Do reeds have rights? Can the infrastructure own itself?

ABC+D is a series of focused dinner discussions on various subjects between an eclectic group of individuals. Each conversation is ‘triggered’ by a brief expert input, that is followed by a discussion amongst everyone at the table. There is just one rule: One conversation at a time. Let’s see where the discussion takes us.

RSVP is required! Spaces are limited to 15 participants. Please rsvp to info@floating-berlin.org. If you need to cancel your reservation please let us know well in advance.

No prior knowledge or preparation required – come as you are!
