Schlesische 27 cordially invites you to: “Martha – Of transformations and new beginnings”!
“Martha” is a creative examination of the “Rummelsburger Kippe”.
Between the end of the Second World War and the collapse of the GDR, new building materials for the reconstruction of socialist Germany were extracted from the rubble of demolished houses in a former development area in the district of Lichtenberg.
With the unification of East and West Germany, the site was shut down and one of Berlin’s many wastelands was created.
1978
In his documentary of the same name, DEFA director Jürgen Böttcher tells the story of the rubble woman Martha Bieder, who was the only woman to achieve fame among those working there.
2023
In a cooperation between S27 and @clubcommission, the area, which had become overgrown and littered in the meantime, was transformed into a creative meeting place for young people from the neighborhood, taking into account the local flora and fauna.
Let’s look into the past together and try it out in the present!
