It’s time to take a stand in the city and get involved! On May 30, we cordially invite you to participate in our event “Stadtmacher*innen gegen Rechts – Welche Strategien können innerhalb der Urbanen Praxis gegen Rechts entwickelt werden?”.

The program includes a networking event with two workshops. There will be space for learning and exchange on questions such as: What strategies can be developed within urban practice against the right, how can urban practitioners take an active role as actors in current political events and act as multipliers in their circles?

Two workshops are offered for this purpose. The workshops take place in parallel, so you can decide which workshop you would like to attend:

Workshop 1 with Melanie Nazmy (Link: https://melanie-nazmy.superhi.hosting/)

In this workshop, led by Melanie Nazmy, you can develop ideas for possible counter-strategies for urban practice in view of the current strengthening of the right. It will take a special look at the potential and dangers of political emotions in the public sphere.

Number of participants: max. 8 persons

To make the workshop as interactive and productive as possible, Melanie invites you to the following preparatory input:

1. no prior knowledge is required for the workshop, but it builds on Melanie’s article in the new zine coming out soon, titled “Urban Practice and Political Emotions in the Age of Real-Time Communication”. It will be sent to you after your registration. There will be a Q&A session on the text at the beginning of the workshop.

2. please send along with your registration a small contribution (link or PDF) that you would like to share with your co-participants on the topic beyond the workshop – be it in the form of an article, book title or text excerpt, (own) artwork/model, radio or television contribution, poem… Melanie will collect your submissions and then make them available to the group in good time so that you all have the opportunity to be inspired by the perspectives of others before your workshop time together, if you have the time and inclination.

3. please bring to the workshop any. a completely freely chosen object that gives shape to your answers to the following two questions: What scares me about the current rise of right-wing extremist forces, what do I see as an opportunity?

Workshop 2 (details will follow shortly)

This workshop takes the form of argumentation and attitude training. As city makers, you can take part in further training with an expert and learn about strategies for action against the right. The workshop will consist of both an informative and an interactive part to give you the opportunity to exchange ideas.
Number of participants max. 12 persons

Who can take part?
This is a training event for individuals and initiatives who want to take responsibility in the political climate of the shift to the right and actively position and act against the right in and with their practice.
