Pop-Up second entrance – Prinzenbad

We wish to treat each other with consideration and solidarity. All information about the awareness concept can be found here https://www.urbanepraxis.berlin/awareness/
You can reach our awareness team of the practice week at the operating times under: +49 157 53 55 41 96 and on site at Mehringpl
We are in front of a closed door, but simulate with an installation the reopening of the second entrance to the Prinzenbad.
Our action emphasizes the current inaccessibility of the area during the fall, winter, and spring months, while also pointing to the potential of future year-round uses.
The symbolic opening creates mental access to space and area potentials. We would like to make clear to guests and passers-by on site in an informal exchange and, of course, at the champagne reception, that in the future not only new thoroughfares are conceivable.

Event location:
Walkway Landwehrkanal between Alexandrinenstraße and Prinzenstraße
Organization/ Initiative:
Pool Potentials, an initiative of the non-profit association Genua e.V., deals with the seasonal vacancy of Berlin’s summer swimming pools (on average 8.5 months a year!) and calls for a public welfare-oriented alternate use of these land and space resources (480,000m2!). Currently planning a pilot project at Prinzenbad.
Funded:
The event is part of the initiative DRAUSSENSTADT, funded by the Berlin Project Fund Urban Practice and the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
