OPEN CALL: Open Day – Making urban diversity visible!

Apply now until 20 August!

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, initiatives, collectives and self-organised spaces throughout Berlin will open their doors. The Open Day – Making Urban Diversity Visible invites people to shape the city together, make perspectives visible and create space for solidarity, resistance and creative practices.

These spaces are under pressure: they are being destroyed by austerity measures, and perspectives are being suppressed. Urban practice often arises from resistance – against exclusion, displacement and urban policies that render spaces invisible. But it is precisely in these special places in the city – open, creative, communal – that shared themes, desires and utopias give rise to new ideas, encounters and a sense of togetherness that brings the city to life.

The action day is part of a two-day event that begins on Friday, 26 September, with a symposium and continues on Saturday with public activities in the city. Why? We want to have a say in ensuring that spaces remain and urban diversity has a future. A city-wide intervention designed to raise awareness of our approaches and make our voices heard.

For spaces that remain. For a city that belongs to all of us.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for formats that make your work visible on site, invite participation, or intervene in the urban space. For example:

-Guided tours of your rooms or neighbourhoods

-Open workshops and activities

-Walks, conversations or discussion formats

-Workshops, readings, performances or installations

-Contributions in public spaces

Who can take part?

-Initiatives, projects, collectives, networks and individuals who shape urban space

-Groups that advocate for a fair, solidarity-based, feminist, post-migrant or anti-racist city

We particularly encourage people, initiatives and organisations that position themselves from marginalised perspectives to participate in this OPEN CALL, which we expressly welcome in view of our goal of breaking down and communicating access barriers to the cultural sector and thus working in a power-critical manner.

What do we offer?

Participation is selected by Urbane Praxis e.V. and can be subsidised by the association in the form of a grant of 200-300 euros. For larger purchases or financial expenses, please consult us.
Otherwise, you will be included in our programme and promoted.

Interested?

Then send us a brief expression of interest by 20 August 2025 with the following information in our form: https://forms.gle/XtWJomz7zEd3Qera6
