Fluss Lauf, Tag des öffentlichen Denkmals, öffentlicher Spaziergang durch das Projektgebiet von Fluss Bad Berlin, Gespräch zwischen Charlotte Hopf (Vorständin des Flussbad Berlin e.V.) und Luise Rellensmann (Professorin für Bauen im Bestand, Denkmalpflege und Bauaufnahme an der Hochschule München), Berlin, 11.9.22

This is a walk that runs mostly through barrier-free territory.

Arrival to the starting point: U-Bhf. Museumsinsel / Tram M1, M12

Run through urban backdrop, corresponding to city noise and natural light conditions to be assumed.

At the end of the tour there is a possibility to stop in the river Bad Garten, where drinks can be purchased at a kiosk.

For the Open Monument Day on Sun, Sept. 10, 2023, FLUSS BAD BERLIN is again offering a River Run special edition through the project area.
In 2021, the waterways around the Spree Island, including the bridges, locks and embankments, were placed under monument protection. Within this area is also the project area of Fluss Bad Berlin. As an urban development project funded by the federal and state governments, Fluss Bad Berlin aims to make the Spree Canal usable and swimmable as a public space. To this end, the Spree Canal and some of its banks have already been designated as an urban redevelopment area by the Berlin Senate in 2019.

A discursive walk will explore parts of the large-scale protected urban area, identify points of contact with the Fluss Bad Berlin project, and discuss strategies for reconciling historic preservation concerns, sustainable urban development, and future viability. There will be a documentation of the event in sound and picture, afterwards a podcast will be published for re-listening.
