Floating site is 600m away from U-Südstern (with elevator) or 450m from the M43 busstation of "Friedhöfe Columbiadamm". The site is wheelchair accessible, including most spaces, the bar, and toilets. From the large gate, a steep pathway leads down to the basin: if you need assistance, let us know and we’ll be happy to assist you.

German and English spoken language

Toilets are gender neutral, accessible by wheelchair but not equipped with raised toilet pan with grab rails adjacents.

The site is completely out-door and offers multiple spaces to recreate, sit and enjoy the calmness of the water site. There might be sounds from surrounding sports fields aswell as insects and extreme weather conditions, in case of rain. The pathways are not enclosed, therefore we suggest to look out where to step on. Its possible to extend yourself in the whole area of 80.000 sqm. Walking in the reeds and water is not allowed for nature reservation respect.

Floating opens its doors for a guided tour into its hybrid infrastructure, where urban and ecological processes meet behind the scenes of city life. Discover the site’s story, encounter diverse animal species, and enjoy a space to observe, learn, and relax – right in the middle of the city.

Guided Tour: 15.00 – 16.30

Floating e.V.

Floating e.V. is a self organized space and group, where practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds meet to collaborate, co-create and imaginatively work towards futures. It is in solidarity with the history of the site and with the lineage of alternative narratives for urban development that the Floating e.V. situates its mission: to open, maintain, and take care of this unique site while bringing non-disciplinary, radical, and collaborative programs to the public. In other words, it is a place to learn to engage, to embrace the complexity and navigate the entanglements of the world, to imagine and create different forms of living.
