With its working group Urbane Praxis, the Council for the Arts (Rat für die Künste) launched an initiative, which in 2021 will show the cooperation and action field “Urbane Praxis” with Berlin-based actors in a network of city-wide campus projects. Using examples of various practices, also beyond Berlin, this podcast discusses perspectives and potentials of urban practice and why now is a good time to talk about it.

#24 – Architektur als Identiätspolitik w/ Philipp Oswalt
Tomma and Heimo have invited Philipp Oswalt to the studio, who published a book entitled “Building on the National House: Architecture as Identity Politics” in December 23. In this publication, he examines how the reconstruction of historic buildings is often more than just an attempt to restore faded glory. Oswalt puts forward the thesis that behind the façades lie political intentions from the right-wing spectrum that aim to change our ideas of history and society.
In addition to the brown ideology, we also talked a lot about the reconstructed Berlin Palace, so be sure to listen in if you want to know how the reconstruction came about.
