Making urban diversity visible – Open Day 2025

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, dozens of initiatives, collectives and self-organised spaces opened their doors across Berlin. Under the motto ‘Making urban diversity visible’, they demonstrated how much creativity, solidarity and resilience the city has to offer – and how cities can be redesigned when people come together.

AKTION: SEZ retten!

After just three months of successful interim use of the SEZ for sport and culture under the patronage of the state of Berlin, is it now to be over again?

The picture shows a flyer with the title: **“No demolition of the pyramid on Hafenplatz - for a model project for the building turnaround!”** (marked in yellow). Below it is a photo of the pyramid-shaped residential building on Hafenplatz. The text calls for the building to be preserved as it offers great potential for sustainable further development. Highlighted: **“Eight reasons speak for a model project at this location in particular: ”** First reason: The building offers 363 urgently needed student apartments.

AKTION: Gebäudekomplexes “Pyramide” am Berliner Hafenplatz

The owner is planning to demolish this landmark building, which offers 363 student apartments and 55 “normal” apartments. The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district authority is currently working on a framework plan that will be decisive for the preservation of the building.
