Collective embroidery workshop to decolonize nature
Studio Neotropico B

The event takes place outdoors on the Studio Neotropico raft, which is anchored on the Landwehr Canal in front of the Vivantes Klinikum am Urban, or at the sports facility on Fraenkelufer, from where the participants have barrier-free access to the said sports facility via the ramps located there have. To get on board, our team is ready should you need any assistance.

The nearest barrier-free stop is the Kottbussertor underground station, which is 850 m from the event location. The path to the banks of the Landwehr Canal leads partly over cobblestones. Another barrier-free bus stop is Wilmsstraße (bus 140), which is only 450 m from the Landwehr Canal bank and 650 m from the sports facility at Fraenkelufer.

There are several streets around the Vivantes am Urban Klinikum where free parking spaces, including for people with disabilities, can be found. The Vivantes am Urban Klinikum also offers paid parking spaces.

English, German, Spanish spoken language
Texts in English, German and Spanish

In front of the Landwehr Canal you will find barrier-free public toilets that are accessible to all genders, as well as in the Vivantes am Urban clinic. There are also several restaurants and cafés in the area where you can use the toilet facilities.

As the event takes place on the Landwehr Canal, expect the presence and noise of swans, boats and normal crowds. The planned workshop will take place during the day and outdoors, so that we are exposed to the changing weather conditions, but also prepared. To relax, participants can find a place along the canal on the green space or in one of the cafes and restaurants around the Landwehr Canal.

We expect around 200 participants and passers-by during the two-day workshop.

Simple snacks, water and soft drinks will be provided for workshop participants. Otherwise, there are external opportunities to get something to drink/eat around the venue.

The event is intended for adults and children aged 10 and over. However, children under the age of 10 can participate in the workshop under the guidance of their parents.

This is a workshop taking place in our floating art space where the community
invited to participate in a collective embroidery activity. The illustrations that are embroidered
will contain graphic representations of plants named by and with European references to establish the colonial hierarchy. By embroidering and sewing together
we want to enable an encounter in which migrants and non-migrants find a space for exchange and interaction, in which the postcolonial problem through plants and living beings becomes visible.
